To preserve and promote K’nyaw (Karen) culture by creating a safe, welcoming space for individuals of all ages to connect with their heritage, celebrate their identity, and build a strong sense of community in Minnesota and beyond.

Our Mission
Our vision

A resilient, united Karen community where culture is celebrated, wisdom is shared across generations, and every individual feels valued and empowered.

What We Do

At the Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota, we bring together individuals of all ages to celebrate, preserve, and pass on the richness of Karen culture. Through our programs and events, we provide meaningful opportunities for cultural learning, connection, and community pride.

Our Key Programs:

Traditional Dance Classes
We offer traditional Karen dance classes for children and youth. These classes help young people embrace their cultural identity and strengthen their confidence through movement, music, and tradition.

Cultural Celebrations
We organize and participate in important community events such as Karen New Year and Wrist-Tying Ceremonies. These celebrations honor our heritage and bring the community together to share in tradition.

Intergenerational Support
Our programs foster connection between generations, creating space for elders to share their wisdom while encouraging youth and adults to engage with their cultural roots in meaningful ways.

Community Partnerships
We collaborate with schools, nonprofits, and Karen organizations across Minnesota, the U.S., Thailand, and Myanmar to expand access to resources, promote cultural awareness, and support our community at every level.
