Who We Are
At the Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota, our mission is to preserve and promote K’nyaw (Karen) culture by creating a safe and welcoming space for our community.
We serve individuals of all ages from children to elders, by offering programs that reconnect our members with their cultural roots and help them build a strong sense of belonging in a new environment.
Through traditional dance, cultural celebrations, and intergenerational activities, we help young people embrace their identity and give older generations a space to share their wisdom and feel supported.

About the Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota

The Karen Culture Organization of Minnesota was founded to support the growing Karen population in Minnesota and to provide a space where culture, language, and tradition can thrive. We began by gathering community members for traditional celebrations, dance, and cultural learning. Over time, we expanded our programs to support youth development, intergenerational connection, and partnerships with local schools and organizations. Today, we continue to grow as a community-led organization committed to preserving Karen identity and creating opportunities for all generations.
Our team
Our strength lies in our individuality. The team strives to bring in the best talent from various fields — from dance instructors and nonprofit leaders to creative, driven youth who are passionate about giving back and preserving their cultural heritage. Together, we create a dynamic and inclusive space where diverse voices are uplifted, and community impact is at the heart of everything we do.
